In Paris... and got a hankering for Chinese?

This Thursday, September 8th, the Shangri-La Hotel, Paris, which just opened last December, debuts Shang Palace, the group’s first Chinese restaurant in Europe.

It’s headed by Chef Frank Xu, who hails from Shenzen and has been with Shangri-La for ten years, and its 60-dish menu is a collaborative effort with Chef Philippe Labbé, the hotel's executive chef. Guests will find traditional favorites (herb-based soups, dim sum and stir-fried specialties), as well as lo hei salmon, a two-course whole Peking duck, and braised abalone. There’s also an extensive menu of rare teas.

Wait, wait... We cover design.

Shang Palace was designed by Hong Kong-based LRF Design, whose principals, Paul Leese, Charles Robertson, Ivan Dai and Andy Tait, also designed the Shang Palace restaurants in Singapore, Beijing and Hangzhou. For the Paris outpost, they chose a contemporary Asian feel, with mahogany screens, backlit jade columns, and, quite rightly, gorgeous silks. Aside from the main dining area, there are three private rooms named for the Tang, Ming and Qing dynasties.

Shangri-La Hotel, Paris, is located at 10 avenue d’Iéna. The restaurant has just 80 seats, and it will be open from Thursday to Monday for lunch and dinner.
